Hi, I’m john

After nearly a decade in the restaurant and hospitality industry, owner John Boelsche (hello, that’s me. I’m writing this) realized that, in many cases, the restaurant itself is often simply a middleman between the professional and the guest. While great restaurants certainly have their place in our communities, the unfortunate reality is that most of them are not great. That’s why I decided to cut out the middleman, and bring quality craftsmanship, energetic service, and curated experiences straight to you (I also decided to abandon trying to write this mission statement in the third person).

Dexter’s Bar Services brings the professionalism, quality, and deliciousness of craft mixology to your home, office, event space, or anywhere else you’re brave enough to try to fit a bar. From my beginnings as a humble dishwasher in my hometown pub (because every great food service biography starts that way) to corporate catering in Manhattan, to fine dining on Capitol Hill, I’ve been fortunate enough to compile an eclectic career across many areas of food service.

While I am grateful to every place that has let me step behind a bar, or kitchen line, one aspect of my career resonates with me above all others: the people. More specifically, the people I am lucky enough to serve. My love of bartending skyrocketed when I discovered that it is the perfect crossroad between creativity and sociability. With Dexter’s Bar Services, my goal is to intertwine my talents as a mixologist with my natural love of people, thereby helping to infuse your event with genuine levity that will make it one to remember.

Dexter’s Bar Services is a boutique beverage catering service intended for those who want the bar experience to be a focal point of their event, not simply a part of it. Hiring a DBS Bartender means you’re getting a contributor to the overall mood and experience of your event, not simply a body to sling beers and spill wine.

Trickling down from John’s experience in high end catering and fine dining, DBS Bartenders have training, in both craft and conversation, beyond that of a typical event bartender who might just stand off to the side, not knowing how to make a cosmo (no disrespect to all the event bartenders out there)
